Gainesville, Fla. – Award-winning children’s author Minh Lê will read and discuss his newest book, “The Perfect Seat,” at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Headquarters Branch, 401 E. University Ave., Gainesville.Lê won the 2019 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature for his book “Drawn Together” with illustrator and Caldecott Winner Dan Santat. His book, “Let Me Finish!” was named an NPR Best Book of 2016.

Gainesville, Fla. – Literary heir Rick Smith will bring his father’s novel “A Land Remembered” to life with a multimedia expedition through Florida’s past at three Alachua County Library District branches on Wednesday, Feb. 26 and Thursday, Feb. 27.

Gainesville, Fla. – Just in time for Valentine's Day, the Alachua County Library District is giving patrons more movies to love by increasing the DVD checkout limit from 8 to 12 items starting Feb. 1.Library cardholders will also be able to check out DVDs for two weeks instead of one. Patrons can check out DVDs at all 12 locations and two bookmobiles and return them to any branch.

Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District will be closed all day Monday, Feb. 17, for districtwide staff development. All 12 locations will be closed, and the two bookmobiles will not make normally scheduled stops. All book drops and online services, including eBook checkouts, will be available at www.aclib.us. All branches and both bookmobiles will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District will be closed to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 20. All branches will resume their regular schedules on Tuesday, Jan. 21.Book drops and online services at www.aclib.us will be available during all closings.
