Get a Card

Thank you for your interest in getting a library card! We offer three types of cards:

Standard Cards
A standard Alachua County Library District card is free to any Florida resident. To register, residents 18 years of age and older must present photo identification and proof of residency in person at any branch location. Minors (ages 4-17) must be accompanied by a legal guardian as the Responsible Party.  Please note Libby digital materials are limited to residents of Putnam, Alachua, and Levy (PAL) counties. Hoopla digital materials are limited to Alachua County residents only.

Digital Cards
Adult Alachua County residents can register online for a free digital card. These library cards can be used to access digital books and audiobooks, databases, and other online resources. If county residence is successfully verified, applicants will receive a welcome email with new account information and instructions. Your digital card will expire after two years. Once expired, you will need to convert your digital card to a standard card. To do this you will need to visit any of our 12 library locations and show proof of current address and photo ID. Please note if you already have a standard card, you can use that to access Libby materials if you are a resident of Putnam, Alachua, and Levy counties and Hoopla if you are a resident of Alachua county.

Student Cards
All students of P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School at the University of Florida and The Rock School (grades 1-12) were issued student cards at the beginning of the school year.
