The Archer Branch of the Alachua County Library District will be partially closed starting today February 21, 2023, as we work to renovate and expand the location. All programming at the Archer Branch will be suspended until the renovation is complete.
The new hours of operation will be, Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday.
The renovations will also centralize all the children’s books into a new children’s area and enlarge the meeting room space to better serve the community. Patrons can still come to the Archer Branch to check out any materials, DVDs and Sizzlers will still be available, as well as internet ready computers.
The book drop will be relocated to a stand-alone book drop station, which will be located outside the main entrance to the library.
After the renovations, the Archer Branch will nearly double in size from 3,421 square feet to 6,313 square feet. New additions will include a Quiet Reading Room, study rooms, a Teen Room with computers and gaming system, and a MakerSpace area.
“We want to be the heart and soul of the Archer community, and this will help us be that,” said Lesia Schnur, the Archer Branch library manager. “It’s so exciting, these new enhanced services are going to benefit everybody in the community.”
