Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District is suspending programs and outreach events from Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, April 5, 2020, in the interest of public safety during the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease).
Bookmobiles will continue to operate as scheduled and meeting room reservations and use by patrons will continue. As of now, one-on-one tutoring will continue, as will VITA and AARP Foundation Tax-Aide. However, these programs are subject to change. Early voting and emergency polling will continue as scheduled.
The Library District tentatively plans to resume programs on Monday, April 6, but this may change. Library District leadership members are meeting regularly to respond to this evolving situation and communicate expectations for cleanliness and precautions to employees. The health and safety of patrons and staff is our top priority.
All Library District branches remain open on normal schedules with public computers and free Wi-Fi available at all locations. Many library resources are available 24 hours a day from any internet-connected devices - cellphones, tablets, computers, etc. - including our online catalog, eSources, eBooks, and eAudiobooks.
