Gainesville, Fla. – The Alachua County Library District is extending dates for checked out items, expiring cards, and holds during the district’s closure from March 15 through Sunday, March 29.
- Holds that were available for pickup when the Library District closed have been extended until April 7. If a patron had an item ready to pick up on Saturday, March 14, it will still be waiting for them when the Library District reopens.
- Patrons with materials currently checked out will be able to keep those items until April 30, regardless of the materials’ original due dates. The Alachua County Library District does not charge overdue fees. We ask that patrons do not place any items in the book drops while the Library District is closed.
- If a patron’s card is expiring during the closure, their expiration date has been extended through April 30.
Continuing cautiously, the Library District will extend the suspension of all programs through April 30. All meeting room reservations by patrons during this time period will also be canceled. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide has been suspended until further notice by AARP Foundation. When the branches open, VITA Tax Assistance will resume. Library District branches are scheduled to reopen on Monday, March 30.
