Let's have fun with healthy food. There are many delicious edible food crafts for kids, such as the Banana Dolphins with Grapes, pictured here. How about 6 variations on an old favorite, Ants on a Log? These 20 edible crafts include Animal Faces Toast, Mini Jell-O Aquariums, Caterpillar Fruit Kabobs and Grape Sculptures. There are more recipes for young children to participate in the preparation of treats like Alphabet Doughnuts and Carrot Crafts. 

 

Non-edible Food Projects

For those who are interested in food-related art projects (not for eating), you can create Seed Mosaics or Potato Stamps or many other works of art.

Books and Information

There are many picture books about food in the Library's collection. Young cooks will want to check the many cookbooks for kids. The Library's eSource, World Book for Kids, has information on foods and cooking.
