I received a package from last year’s Shell Elementary EDEP after school group and the memories just flooded me with joy and gratitude! My three memories are of the smiles and hugs and happy faces and laughter of the kids greeting me on my visits, of creating space aliens with the children using our names, and of making puppy faces out of hearts for Valentine’s Day. You must be wondering what sparked this chain of memories: a package of thank you cards hand made by the EDEP after school students. Just look at the creativity of our kids!
As this demanding new school year begins, let’s take a moment to remember with gratitude how far we’ve come and to prepare for the challenges ahead with a willingness to try new things, an eagerness to grow, and a commitment to learn together.
