Twins make for intriguing subjects for fiction. Whether they're creepy ghost twins, separated at birth twins, or even let's-get-our-parents-back-together twins, twins reflect our larger curiosity about what makes people different.
Twins themselves can be very different--fraternal, or dizygotic--or identical, AKA monozygotic. They're both equally common--although identical twins show up a lot more in movies and TV shows. Many cultures have myths or legends about twins, and many pantheistic religions have a set of twin gods. Twins can be seen to represent opposites--the sun and the moon, order and chaos, or even good and evil. Twins are sometimes believed to have special powers--but don't poke one to see if the other feels it. That's just rude.
