I Love Yarn Day is a chance, every October, to enjoy the many crafts that can be done using yarn. Yarn aficionados know how versatile it can be, but we also have books for needlecraft beginners, as well as some fiction titles that are sure to tell you a great yarn.
In the Alachua County Library District, there are many clubs, programs, and other ways to learn needlecrafts and connect with other yarn lovers. Examples include:
- our online database Creativebug, which you can use for FREE with your library card
- The Artspace: Fiber Fun Fellowship at Hawthorne branch, which meets twice a month
- The Knitting Club, held weekly on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. at Millhopper branch
- Stitch and Dish, held at 5 p.m. on Thursdays at the Tower Road branch
- Stitch & Chat, held 2 p.m. on Fridays at Alachua Branch
...and many, many more. Please go to our Events page and sort by Event Type to explore all the "Arts, Crafts & DIY" events we have available for you. All programs at the Library are always free and available to the public; please check program listings to see if supplies are provided.
