National Librarian Day on April 16 celebrates librarians, some of the most knowledgable people there are. The very best way we can think of to celebrate librarians is by reading. Check out these librarian approved picture books all about awesome libraries and librarians.
Here are a few more ideas to show your love of librarians.
- Visiting the library, either virtually or physically. During the pandemic librarians have been going above and beyond to adapt to our changing world by expanding our virtual programs. For more fun virtual programs make sure to check out the Virtual Events section of the library's Events page. If you do want to visit the library in person make sure to look at our new hours and available services by checking out the library's Services page.
- Learn or sing a song about books, libraries, or librarians. Check out Jbrary's video below for their twist on a classic song, If You're Happy and You Know It!
- Follow or interact with the library's social media accounts. Did you know Alachua County Library District regularly posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Youtube? We post content for every age, including videos of fun songs, book talks, crafts, and much more.
- Share what you love about the library with us. Whether you tell us in person or tag us on social media, we love hearing about why you love the library and our amazing librarians.
- Tell us what you're reading or ask us for suggestions, don't be shy. We could talk about books all day long, for a lot of us the love of books is why we started working at the library. To catch up on some popular or award winning books check out the library's NoveList K-8 Plus and Overdrive pages.
- Make us a card or color a picture, here are a couple of options. You can download and print them from the bottom of the page.
