Normally I read only Science Fiction and Fantasy, but every once in a while, I look for something in a different genre. The title of Sara Rosett’s book Marriage, Monsters-in-Law, and Murder caught my eye so I decided to give the book a read. And as a former Air Force wife, I was intrigued enough to begin reading.
I was totally hooked by the end of the first chapter. I am currently reading my fourth book by her. Sara writes terrific characters that I fell in love with. The series leading character is Ellie Avery, an Air Force wife who against her wishes gets drawn into events that she wants to stay out of. I didn’t read the books in order, so the first one I read was actually the ninth book in the series. It really doesn’t matter the order you read these, as each story is complete and it isn’t necessary to know the prior details of Ellie Avery to enjoy the story.
Ellie Avery is a professional organizer, not a diplomat. But by agreeing to help organize a family wedding, she's basically signed on to prevent two mothers-in-law from killing each other. It comes as a complete surprise, then, when another member of the wedding party is the one who's actually murdered . . .
As a regular volunteer at North Dawkins Elementary, Ellie would never miss the annual Mother's Day breakfast—even if she has to tolerate the likes of Gabrielle Matheson. The rivals aren't exactly sworn enemies, though Ellie still thinks there's only room for one professional organizer in their small Georgia town. But when Gabrielle reports finding a dead body inside the supply closet, the two women form an alliance to teach a killer a lesson in justice . . .
Moving is Murder
Moving four times in five years has honed Air Force wife Ellie Avery's packing and unpacking skills. But moving with a newborn daughter and husband Mitch in tow, during a heat wave, is enough to make her turn to chocolate for comfort. And when Ellie finds a local environmentalist dead on the side of the road, her instincts tell her this was no accident ...

Ellie Avery balances motherhood, marriage, and her own business--Everything in Its Place--with cheerful efficiency. A maestro of organization, she sees her life as an easy checklist that does not include the untimely death of Penny Follette.
Another thing that I really like about Sara Rosett is that her books are fast reads. And because her characters are so interesting, I wasn’t tempted to skip any pages (always a plus).
So if you are looking for something different to read, you can’t go wrong with Sara’s Ellie Avery mysteries. I may just try her other series Murder on Location which is set in England.
I can’t say I just read science fiction and fantasy anymore.
