[Who is Kate Freeman?]

On Friday, December 11th, 2020, Kate Freeman won Jeopardy! while proudly wearing a transgender pride flag pin on her jacket lapel. Though there was one previous contestant who later came out as transgender (but played under a different name and pronouns), Freeman is the first contestant to play Jeopardy! as an openly out transgender woman.
Freeman grew up in Lake Orion, Michigan. She graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA, and had a perfect ACT score. She graduated from the University of Michigan with an MS degree in Sustainability.
"I’m proud to be out and I know representation is important.”
