High Springs Renovation/Expansion Celebration

The construction and remodeling is finishing up this week. Everyone is invited to celebrate the completion on Saturday, Sept. 24, 10 a.m. Come see the newly added 3,200 sq. ft. which creates a total of 8,200 sq. ft. of new and renovated space designed to meet the needs of our High Springs community.

The referenced media source is missing and needs to be re-embedded.
We look forward to unveiling the new features including a mural in the children’s area designed by Themeworks of High Springs which captures the area’s natural environment and bubbling springs, our dynamic new gathering space for teens, two study rooms, a quiet reading room and a larger community meeting room.

The expansion also offers more parking. We will use xeriscaping with two 400-gallon rain barrels for irrigation to conserve water. We will use the Library District’s automation system for cooling and heating to improve energy efficiency in order to consume less energy and save money.

Community businesses and organizations will be part of this celebration event. Library District board members, local dignitaries and special guests will deliver brief remarks followed by a ribbon cutting, reception and library tours. We hope many families and friends will come see all the improvements to our library and enjoy refreshments provided by GFWC High Springs New Century Woman's Club and celebration cakes provided by Friends of the High Springs Library. Thompson's Flower Shop is providing flowers and decorations. Other contributions include individual bags of penuts from Golden Peanut & Tree Nuts of High Springs and pens from Kelly D. Barber, Financial Advisor with Edward Jones.

We would like to thank Paul Stresing Associates Inc. of Alachua, the architect, and Hoffman Construction Inc. of Newberry, our general contractor, for their work on the project. We thank our library users for their patience during the construction and look forward to serving you in a much improved space.
