Witches, wizards, sorcery, magic. All the makings of great stories.
But right now, it can be hard to find a little bit of magic in the world. Many people love the witch aesthetic, myself included, but may be struggling to find a new source of magic to inspire themselves.
So I rounded up some of my favorite witches to share with you so you can find a little magic too.
Children's Chapter Books
Half witch Kiki never runs from a challenge, and on her thirteenth birthday she is eager to follow witch tradition to go to a new town for a year. Kiki expects her magic to make everyone happy, but she finds that earning trust is harder than she thought. As Kiki builds her inner strength and makes friends, she discovers magic can be found even in ordinary places.
Most well known as the animated movie adaption by Studio Ghibli, the translated Japanese children’s novel has just been re-released in America.
Mildred Hubble is a student at Miss Cackle’s Academy, and she’s making an awful mess of it. She can’t ride a broomstick without crashing, she can’t mix a potion without it exploding, and even her non-black cat is scared of heights! Mildred wonders if she will ever be a real witch, but as often as she gets herself into trouble she discovers a way to save the day and prove she has her own sort of magic. This is a children's chapter book series but Mildred's hijinks will entertain readers of all ages.

Teen and Adult Books
The original teenage witch is back and more chilling than ever. This series is based on the new Netflix series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, with the books taking place before and between seasons. Read about Sabrina, her friends, her family, and how her goal to keep her power and her freedom affects them all.
Hex Hall series (also available as an ebook)
