Make a DIY Valentine's Day Bookmark Paper Craft!
Happy Valentine's! Looking for a little something to make for a significant other, a crush, or something cute for yourself? Try out this very simple paper craft bookmark. This activity is great for kids of all ages—crafty adults can enjoy this too!
What You'll Need
- Two or more kinds of colored paper cut into four 25cm x 1cm strips
- Ruler
- Scissors or exacto knife
- Glue stick or paste
- Decor piece of your choice
- Glitter
- Paper heart
- Sticker
- Other of your choice
Directions
Step One: Gather your supplies and cut two 25cm x 1 cm strips from each sheet of colored paper. (See above.)
Step Two: Take two strips of the same color and glue the ends at a 90-degree angle.
Step Three: On the left, bottom strip, glue the end of a different color strip at a 90-degree angle so that it lays alongside the top strip.
Step Four: On the right top strip, glue the end of the last different color strip at an opposite 90-degree angle so it lays parallel to the first strip.
You should end up with an upside-down V with two colors on the left and two on the right.
Step Five: Dab a small amount of glue on the left side and fold the outermost left strip so it lies parallel with the strips on the right side.
You should end up with an upside-down V with one color on the left and three on the right.
Step Six: Dab a small amount of glue on the right side and fold the outmost strip right strip so it lies parallel with the strip on the left side.
You should end up with an upside-down V with two colors on the left and two on the right. The bookmark will now have a diamond-shaped tip and two, v-shaped colored chevrons so far.
Repeat steps five and six.
Step Seven: When you get to the end of the bookmark, securely glue and then trim the excess so the bottom point ends in a neat chevron.
Step Eight: Glue a piece of decor on the top of the handmade bookmark. Since we're making a Valentine's Day bookmark, we added hearts!
