In a Twitter post, Oprah Winfrey writes that, "Mr. Boseman was a gentle gifted soul," and "that he showed us all that greatness in between surgeries and Chemo." “The courage, the strength, and the power it takes to do that. This is what dignity looks like,"

Born on November 29, 1976, in Anderson South Carolina, Chadwick Aaron Boseman attended Howard University and majored in theatre with the hopes of one day becoming a movie director.

However, with the help of Phylicia Rashad, one of his acting teachers at Howard University, he was eventually accepted into the theatre program at the University of Oxford in England. It isn’t until he graduates and moves to Brooklyn, New York, that he learns that Denzel Washington, a friend of Rashad's, sponsored his education at Oxford University.

Boseman would go on to portray Jackie Robinson in, "42" (2013), James Brown in "Get on Up" (2014), and Thurgood Marshall, in "Marshall" (2017). However, it isn't until his role as T'Challa, the Black Panther, that he moves into the realm of superstardom. In an Instagram post, Boseman stated that "it was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life as the Black Panther."

The Black Panther is the first superhero movie to include an African American protagonist, director and cast. This movie empowers many African American movie goers and gives them a sense of pride for African history and culture.

Chadwick Aaron Boseman will be remembered by his many fans as the actor who brings the Black Panther into their lives. However, the depth of his strength and courage is the true legacy that he leaves behind.
