April is Global Astronomy Month

Global Astronomy Month is an annual celebration of astronomy that is organized by Astronomers Without Borders. You can check their website for a calendar of events occurring in April, both on a global and a local scale. 

Looking for ways to celebrate right here in our community? Check out the websites for the Santa Fe College Kika Silva Pla Planetarium and the Alachua County Astronomy Club to see events taking place during April that celebrate Global Astronomy Month.

Telescope [Newberry]

The Newberry Branch is home to the Orion StarBlast telescope.  It comes with an instructional booklet and can check out for two weeks.

This item must be checked out and returned to the Newberry Branch, so please contact the staff at your local library if you have questions or concerns.

STEM Kit Astronomy

Contents include: 1 interactive: home planetarium; 1 book: Space: A Visual Encyclopedia; 1 DVD: "Magic School Bus: Space Adventures"; 1 guide; all in a zippered bag.

Please note: This kit checks out as a unit to a single patron, who is solely responsible for its contents. Kits may not be returned in a book drop, but must be brought to a desk. There is a limit of 1 STEM kit per patron.
