[What is TDOR? Or: Transgender Day of Remembrance]
Observed annually since its inception, TDOR takes place on November 20th and serves as a memorial service honoring those lost to transphobic violence. The event was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith to memorialize the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts. It has since grown into an international event. In 2010, TDOR was observed in over 185 cities throughout more than 20 countries.

TranQuility is a local community group of transgender people and allies who aim to improve the lives of transgender and gender nonconforming people.
