The Alachua County Library District was created in 1986 and is a public tax-supported institution that provides the Alachua County community with library services. During operating hours, all our library locations are open for browsing, checking out materials, computer use, printing, faxing, study room use, and meeting room reservations. The Alachua County Library District offers a wide variety of helpful services to all residents. All you need to get started is a Standard Library Card. Parents or guardians must be present to register a child for a Standard Library Card at any library location.

With hoopla, patrons can check out new music albums, movies, television shows, comics, graphic novels, and more. Hoopla has a large selection of Hallmark Movies, including their holiday classics.
Hoopla access is restricted to Alachua County residents only. Patrons can check out up to 10 items every calendar month.

Students, professionals, or anyone in need of a quiet space to study or meet can find it at the library.
Study Rooms and Meeting Rooms are available at most library locations. Study Rooms can be booked on the same day they are needed. Meeting Rooms can be booked up to three months in advance.

The Library of Things is full of unique offerings that expand our collection of materials. We have various items available to patrons like Exploration Backpacks, WiFi2Go hotspots, Sensory Toys, Book Club Kits, and STEM kits. Patrons can check out and pick up items at any of our twelve library locations.

A Seed Library is available at all our library locations. Patrons can get free seeds to plant for themselves or a friend.
Patrons with a passion for gardening and excess seeds can donate seeds to the Seed Library.
